Are you an ambitious, experienced Category Manager that is ready to take on a new challenge? Our Calgary client, a leader in the energy sector, is looking for a Category Manager for a one year contract, with the possibility of extension. Job Responsibilities
  • Analyze spend, assess internal requirements and market data to support strategic recommendations
  • Gather information to provide an understanding of industry best practices and trends
  • Conduct market data research, investigate supplier capabilities and establish sources for innovation and new technologies
  • Lead process for strategy development, identification of qualified sources of supply, issuance of RFP, evaluation and normalization of proposals
  • Develop and manage contracts to meet business requirements and compliance with corporate policies
  • Develop negotiation strategies and lead negotiations including for high value/risk/complex agreements
  • Draft and execute agreements
  • Implement strategies that positively impact company's financial results
  • Ensure compliance with purchasing policies and procedures, ethical practices and adherence to relevant laws and regulations
  • Collaborate with management in various business areas to establish short-term and long-term business objectives
  • Identify metrics, tools, and processes to optimize efficiencies and work collaboratively with team members to manage suppliers and their performance. 
  • Proactively address potential category risks and develop the necessary mitigation strategies

Candidate Qualifications
  • University degree or post-secondary degree or related experience
  • Five+ years of experience in Energy or related industries
  • Strong analytical mind set with problem solving capabilities 
  • Experience with equipment and service supplies with the energy environment, and related industries would be an asset
  • SAP knowledge would be considered an asset
  • Strong project management skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including relationship building and collaboration within a diverse, cross-functional team
  • Knowledge of strategic sourcing, contract and vendor management
  • Excellent relationship building, interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills 
  • Travel may be required
