Our client in Calgary, AB is looking for an accountant to join their team on a permanent basis. Job Responsibilities 

  • Accounts Payable responsibilities include posting all purchases; responding to queries from suppliers, making payments and ensure monthly schedules
  • Accounts Receivable responsibilities are to prepare and send customer invoices; collect AR; and deposit cheques 
  • Prepare salary and wages cheques; prepare ROE
  • Prepare bank reconciliation; calculate and post monthly fixed asset depreciation; post monthly amortization work with the Controller in preparing monthly financial reporting
  • Prepare twice a month source deduction and payments, ensuring GST and PST filings and payments are made on time
  • Process mail daily and answer the central telephone
  • Maintain employee files
  • At year end update the filing system for the New Year and store the old files
  • At year end through January work with the Controller to ensure all schedules are prepared on time and information
  • Prepare and file T4 slips and T4 summaries
  • Provide support to the on-site audit team and provide any additional files as per the request of the onsite audit team
  • Support the quality policy, scope and objectives of the quality management system (QMS)
  • Understand and follow the company’s occupational health and safety policies and regulations (OH&S)
  • Adhere to the company’s life rules policy and code of ethics

Candidate Qualifications 

  • This position requires employees to be able to work with initiative and pay attention to details
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills required
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Tools including Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Professional demeanor and presence with internal customers, members, and co-workers
  • Successful completion of a level 1 Fit for Work Exam – an evaluation of flexibility, back fitness, strength and cardio
