Job Responsibilities 

  • Support the growth, development, delivery and success of safety programs in alignment with, and as an integral part of our client’s Corporate Safety objectives and the advancement of their safety culture
  • Establish comprehensive and effective OH&S programs including emergency response plans, conducting safety audits, inspections and investigations
  • Lead and develop a strong/capable HSE team that has the needed influence and responsiveness
  • Provide international support in conducting health and safety compliance audits to achieve a globally aligned safety program
  • Liaise with senior management regarding strategic planning, development and budgeting of safety programs and implementing initiatives
  • Collaborate with the operations teams to establish operational performance metrics and key performance indicators (KPI’s) to drive consistency and meet sustainability goals
  • Organize and provide support to the development of effective controls and compliance to the Federal Commercial Transportation regulations along with maintaining a liaison with appropriate regulatory authorities to ensure compliance in the field of Industrial Hygiene and Safety 

Candidate Qualifications

  • Ten or more years of progressive experience in a Health, Safety and Environment role with a minimum of five years in a leadership capacity, preferably in manufacturing
  • Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety/Industrial Hygiene Technology with a CRSP designation being an asset
  • Experience working globally and cross culturally        
  • Proven experience establishing HSE Programs in a field service environment
  • Ability to travel to all global sites in which the company operates with estimated travel at twenty percent or more including domestic and international
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with conflict, able to effectively communicate ideas and positions and be an active listener
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, policies, procedures and work instructions
  • Ability to motivate and influence others toward a desired vision, drive change and long lasting enthusiasm
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to be able to support and interact with all business units as well as external customers
  • Excellent time management skills with a demonstrated ability to organize competing priorities
  • Effective problem-solving ability with demonstrated root cause analysis and solution building skills are essential
