Are you a detail oriented individual with extensive experience in restaurant construction and project managing? Do you have a friendly and approachable demeanor that allows you to build key internal and external relationships? As the Director of Construction and Design, the successful candidate would be responsible for providing the design and construction details for all new and renovating restaurants while ensuring that brand standards are upheld. Job Responsibilities 

  • Managing of new franchised and corporate restaurant construction and renovation projects 
  • Responsible for all elements of each project such as the initial considerations of the scope of the project, preparing the initial scope of work documents and preliminary budgets to meeting with consultants and contractors to plan the work
  • Maintaining and updating the budgets, and the interested /applicable individuals during the process 
  • Ensuring all brand standards are followed during the process
  • Assist Franchisees, President and CFO in all requirements to fulfill the companies’ renovation program where applicable
  • Presenting design department activities to Franchisees at the Companies annual seminar
  • Travel to different locations to assess for renovations, completion of projects new locations 
  • Answering questions of Franchisees and supplying information to them regarding potential projects
  • Meetings with Board of Directors, President, CFO, Director of Franchising, Director of Marketing and Director of Operations to update on projects status and to discuss new and potential projects
  • Responsible for the ongoing updates required and as determined by the leadership team to the Brand Standards Manual, Construction and Design Manual, Equipment specifications and Construction and Design Material specifications
  • In conjunction with the Leadership Team responsible for the financial performance and reporting for all Construction and Design projects under their control
  • Responsible for the approving of purchases up to $1000 

Candidate Qualifications 

  • Must be articulate and able to communicate confidently and effectively in person, over the phone and via written correspondence
  • Ability to manage time without supervision
  • Attention to detail is a must
  • Computer competency is a must; must be fully functional in the use of Auto-Cad and familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook as well as basic internet platforms necessary to perform the role
  • Five years in a similar role preferably working within or with a Multi-Unit restaurant company
  • A Bachelor's degree is an asset
