Our client in Fort McMurray, is looking to add an experienced Mechanical Engineer to their team for a fulltime ten month contract.  The successful candidate will provide support to the Development and Implementation Division. Job Description
  • Develop Prioritized Equipment Strategy plan on behalf of the Business Teams with the purpose of increasing reliability and availability
  • Coordinate resources (e.g., discipline engineers, Subject Matter Experts, area Business Team members) for equipment strategies as per the endorsed plan
  • Facilitate Equipment Strategy development (RCM3) sessions
  • Analyze the loss data to identify underperforming assets (bad actor equipment)
  • Work with discipline engineers for the area to understand the cause and develop the solution
  • Work with Operations and Maintenance to implement the solution
  • Identify improvement items, based on the historical data, to prolong the service life - increase mean time between failure, availability & reliability - to meet unit’s safety, reliability and production targets
  • Develop business justifications for resolution of equipment reliability problems
  •  Investigate the reason for equipment failures and develop solutions to address the root cause (i.e. re-design equipment, work with vendors to supply new or modified components)

Candidate Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent required
  • Four to six years of relevant experience
  • Must be registered or eligible for registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geologists of Alberta (APEGA)
  • Experience in Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) is must. Experience in Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) is must
  • Must possess ability to work in an industrial environment and have a strong sense for working safely
  • Independent and able to work under minimal supervision
  • Ability to facilitate alignment and open, effective communication among stakeholders
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and problem solving capabilities
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks of various size and complexity
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to influence others, facilitation skills for decision analysis, risk assessments, and other group work sessions. Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Strong Computer Skills (MS Excel, SAP, SharePoint etc.) will be an strong asset
