Our client in Fort McMurray  is looking to add a Senior Instrument Engineer (Reliability) to their team for an five-month contract.  If you have a strong understanding of Rotating Equipment Failure Rates, Functional Failures, Failure Modes, Random Failures, Availability of Plant equipment, and their relationship to Preventive and Predictive Maintenance Programs, this may be the opportunity you have been waiting for.  Please note: Local candidates preferred.

Job Responsibilities
  • Develop Prioritized Equipment Strategy plan on behalf of the Business Teams with the purpose of increasing reliability and availability.
  • Coordinate resources (e.g., discipline engineers, Subject Matter Experts, area Business Team members) for equipment strategies as per the endorsed plan.
  • Facilitate quarterly and annual incident analysis and Production loss analysis on behalf of the Business Teams. Ensure recommendations made by the Technical teams are analyzed utilizing loss monitoring results.
  • Utilize reliability data analysis tools (IMPACT, Area Loss Monitoring, Production Planning Stewardships, etc. as applicable) to identify improvement opportunities and ensure sustainable implementation of lessons learned.
  • Support equipment discipline engineers to integrate bad actor and reliability improvement resolution plans into the Business Team Reliability Improvement Plan.
  • Investigate the reason for equipment failures and develop recommendation to address the root cause

 Candidate Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical or other closely related Engineering discipline)
  • Seven to 10 years of experience in a Maintenance or Reliability Engineering position in oil sands or petroleum refining industry is required
  • Must be registered or eligible for registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geologists of Alberta (APEGA)
  • Experience in Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) is required
  • Understands Computerized Maintenance Management Systems, including SAP
  • Must possess ability to work in an industrial environment and have a strong sense for working safely
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Independent and able to work under minimal supervision
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to influence others, facilitation skills for equipment strategies sessions
