Description

Our client in Sarnia is looking for an experienced Procurement Specialist -Turnaround, to complete a full-time, one year contract. In this role, you will be responsible to perform all operational procurement activities. Overtime will be required throughout this contract.  Job Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary buyer for Turnaround services.  This involves working with the planning team to understand scope, advising on commercial strategies, requesting / collecting / comparing quotes and issuing purchase orders for both on site and off site service work
  • Work closely with the Turnaround Planning, Finance & Execution teams to ensure that purchase orders and vendor communications accurately reflect our expectations for planned, safe, efficient, cost-effective work
  • First point of contact for supplier questions and either answer them directly or ensure appropriate stakeholders are engaged
  • Administrative tasks will be required including monitoring PO overspend, closing out old PO’s, and supporting post-event audit work if/as required.
  • Serve as the primary backfill for our Turnaround materials buyer

Candidate Qualifications 
  • Five or more years of procurement experience, preferably in oil and gas, and within the Sarnia market
  • Prefer turnaround exposure over steady state / base maintenance work.  Bonus if you have turnaround field exposure
  • Proficient in SAP, Excel, MS Word, MS Teams
  • Exposure to Primavera scheduling a real bonus
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
  • Strong collaboration skills that enables you to build strong, positive relationships with diverse groups
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills as well as strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills
  • A positive work ethic and you perform well with limited supervision
