Description

Do you have experience with geophysical and geological data? Our client in Calgary is looking for an experienced Seismic Data Analyst to complete a full time, three month contract with the possibility of extension. The focus of this position is to load, maintain and provide quality control of geoscience data, commercial and legal documents. Job Responsibilities
  • Ensure geoscience data and documents are available by executing data loading, extraction, transfer, integration, clean-up, publishing and archiving
  • Use data management and data science tools and technologies to improve data flows 
  • Execute company governing and audit practices for quality assurance and control
  • Collaborate and provide support for other locations
  • Support the efforts of the group to improve literacy in the business of digitalization, ML, AI, data analytics and automation
  • Receive and catalog inbound data from vendors and partners
  • Distribute outbound data to partners and authorities
  • Manage common disk space and working areas for users and ensure naming standards are being followed
  • Manage data transfer media 
  • Assist in the management of on-site and off-site storage areas
  • Interface with IT to improve efficiency and overcome technical obstacles
  • Document workflows and processes

Candidate Qualifications 
  • University degree or graduate from a Geoscience Information Technology program or similar 
  • Two plus years of relevant experience 
  • Experience with data management, loading, clean-up, data flow, quality control and reporting 
  • Experience with geophysical & geological data and a general understanding of data bases
  • Experience with geospatial references (CRS)
  • Familiar with standard software for geodata management such as Petrel, GIS, Spotfire, Power BI, Studio or Documentum
  • Experience or interest in scripting tools like Python, R, PowerShell, automation of data/work flows and data analytics would be considered an asset
  • Effective communication skills both written and verbal in informal and formal settings across a range of audiences 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with limited supervision
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
