Job Responsibilities

  • Creating, managing and monitoring key performance indicators that drive department productivity and asset reliability as per District Work Management
  • Prioritizing maintenance activities that align with Plains’ reliability and mechanical integrity programs, developing preventative maintenance Master Data
  • Perform analysis and trouble-shooting for pneumatic, electrical, electronic and programmable logic control (PLC) systems
  • perform trouble shooting of plant DC systems (Honeywell Experion), VFD's, various end device controls, gas compressors, steam generator controls, and process vessel controls
  • Ensure effective commissioning of instrumentation following repair/replacement
  • Perform functional performance tests on instrumentation as required by facility changes
  • Participate in the analysis of instrument performance for the purpose of identifying optimization and improvement opportunities
  • Ensure compliance with safety and environmental requirements in conjunction with carrying out the required instrument maintenance/replacement activities
  • Maintain awareness of changes to regulatory requirements that are relevant to conduct of instrument maintenance and construction
  • Interpret and appropriately use CSA and ISA codes and API installation standards and practices
  • Examine instrument drawings, shutdown keys and datasheets for reference purposes and for determining work procedures
  • Comply with the prioritization and classification system for work order completion
  • Provide input to the schedule for shutdown opportunities and identify potential conflicts in the schedule and timelines
  • Support planning and operations personnel in the identification of resource and skills required to complete reactive and planning work activities
  • Comply with the approved maintenance operation procedures
  • Supporting the maintenance of critical spare parts and equipment lists;

Candidate Qualifications
  • Registered Alberta Apprentice and Certified Technician (Instrumentation Technician)
  • Dual Instrumentation/Electrical status is preferred
  • Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical maintenance for process equipment, pressure vessels and heaters
  • Strong commitment to safety
  • Demonstrated team player
  • Computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, experience using Maximo would be considered an asset
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Valid certification requirements are: H2S Alive, First aid, Confined space entry and/or rescue, TDG, WHMIS, and valid Alberta Driver’s License
  • Self-motivated individual who enjoys working in a fast paced team oriented environment
  • Strong organizational, and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently as required
