Are you a buyer with strong negotiation skills searching for your next opportunity?  Our client located in Calgary is seeking an experienced Buyer to join their team for a four month contract. This role will be accountable to develop, analyze, negotiate and administer services or materials purchase orders and contracts.  You will also be responsible to coordinate and support the competitive bid process. Job Responsibilities

  • Create and manage purchase orders 
  • Support and manage the competitive bid process for materials and services including developing competitive bid documents and manage the bid process to ensure fairness and compliance, evaluating bids and making recommendations
  • Create, negotiate and manage contracts in order to effectively manage risk
  • Manage contract changes, amendments and dispute resolution.
  • Ensure successful supplier relationships including the identification and development of key suppliers

Candidate Qualifications 

  • University degree or College diploma in Business, Supply Chain Management, Finance or other related 
  • Three years related experience in procurement or supply chain management
  • Certification such as Supply Chain Management Professional would be a strong asset
  • Superior interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent computer skills including experience with SAP 
  • Solid understanding of legal terms and conditions
  • Good negotiation and decision making skills
  • Results oriented with the ability to manage multiple complex tasks
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Background in electrical utilities industry an asset
