Our client in Winnipeg is looking to add an experienced Engineering Director to their team on a fulltime permanent basis.  The main focus of this role will include building an internal engineering practice covering all engineering scopes, discipline leadership, engineering activities, consultant management and staff management. Job Description
  • Manage significant projects and successfully execute and deliver projects from end to end
  • Recruit, manage and mentor staff  and coordinate work activities throughout the department
  • Coordinate engineering project team efforts to facilitate effective execution of engineering design and the delivery of engineering construction documents
  • Lead early phase effort for determination and/or guidance of most appropriate engineering systems by utilizing best practice engineering methods
  • Supervise project team and review staff project performance to strengthen and build the team
  • Prepare and/or review engineering specifications for projects at each phase of delivery
  • Review completed implementation documents at key phases for accuracy and completeness
  • Responsible for communication with other disciplines, vendors and contractors to ensure incorporation of all information into project requirements

Candidate Qualifications
  • Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Engineering (structural engineering preferred)
  • Five+ years of leadership experience in engineering
  • Hands on experience in back-end and front-end development
  • In-depth knowledge of engineering principles and best practices
  • Advanced knowledge material design standards and building codes
  • Strong computer skills in programs such as MS Office and MS Project)
  • Excellent verbal and written, communication and presentation skills, and equally strong listening skills
  • Skilled in managing multiple, conflicting priorities
  • Superior organization, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Collaborative, team player with the ability to deliver results in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to influence, lead, motivate and develop others through coaching and mentoring
