Our client is looking for a Senior Civil Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis in Regina SK. Reporting to the Manager or the Civil Engineering Division, the successful candidate will lead civil/municipal projects including the planning design and construction or wastewater systems, water resource projects, water treatment plants, wastewater treatment systems, and solid waste management systems.  A knowledge of land development projects would also be an asset.  If you feel this is an opportunity you could excel at, please apply below. 

Job Responsibilities 

  • Responsible for development of concepts as well as the planning, design and construction of municipal and civil projects
  • Manage and execute multiple projects from the proposal stage through to completion, ensuring quality objectives, schedules and budgets are met
  • Develop strong working relationships with clients, consultants, trade contractors, project managers and other stakeholders
  • Collaborate with other disciplines and project team members to provide quality service on projects of varying scope and complexity
  • Prepare and/or review design drafting, contract documents, estimating and operations
  • Track and report budget versus actual project costs
  • Manage the project change order, change directive, price request and supplementary instruction process to ensure proper reporting/approvals for changes in scope of work and related cost variances
  • Inspect project sites to monitor progress, determine conformance of site to design specifications and ensure compliance with all safety and government regulations
  • Continually look for enhancements in the quality and profitability of the overall projects
  • Provide leadership, negotiation and problem solving support as required to resolve issues, build consensus and align activities to accomplish project goals
  • Prepare reports detailing the findings and recommendation of project related issues
  • Pursue new business and connect with prospective clients to expand business opportunities and sustain financial growth; develop client relationships and pursue new projects
  • Maintain technical and professional knowledge through ongoing education and training, remaining current with relevant professional publications, establishing professional networks and participating in professional associations

Candidate Qualifications 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Systems Engineering or equivalent program from a recognized post-secondary institution
  • A PMP designation is an asset
  • Registered or eligible for registration as a professional engineer (P.Eng) in Saskatchewan (registration in other Canadian provinces is considered an asset)
  • 8 – 12 years of related work experience as a Project Manager or Team Lead for municipal engineering projects, including specific design and construction experience in water, sanitary and stormwater projects for both new project works and renewal/replacement of existing infrastructure systems
  • A team player and leader, with strong technical skills and an interest in project management, business development, client relationship management and acting as a mentor for newer engineers and technologists
  • Skilled at leading projects (planning, design and construction) and motivating/getting the best out of people to meet client and project needs
  • Highly organized and a strong attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to deal with people in a professional manner
