Our client in North Vancouver is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer for a fulltime, permanent position. The Lead Electrical Engineer is a key leadership role responsible for the daily supervision and coordination of the engineering team. The successful candidate will work closely with the Lead Mechanical Applications Engineer to ensure consistent form and function of production systems. Job Description
  • Review complete custom system scopes of supply to ensure all components necessary for the proper operation of the electrical systems are included
  • Lead the electrical engineering staff to produce high quality design work, drawings and documentation 
  • Direct and approve custom project work of confirmed orders to ensure that customer expectations are met 
  • Review and approve technical drawings and documentation to ensure high quality standards 
  • Write & produce technical documentation related to electrical engineering design and operation of systems 
  • Contribute to the engineering team with respect to improvement of quality of design, productivity and cost reduction measures
  • Communicate with regulatory classification societies to ensure compliance with maritime rules

Candidate Qualifications
  • Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering with proven leadership experience 
  • P.Eng. EGBC status or E.I.T. status with the ability to apply for P.Eng. within a year
  • Eight+ years’ post-secondary experience. Experience in electrical engineering and design – marine engineering, knowledge of marine systems and/or naval architecture experience preferred
  • Previous maritime, shipyard or shipboard knowledge or experience is desired
  • Good knowledge of regulatory rules pertaining to marine steering systems is required
  • Excellent computer skills – Microsoft Office suite, AutoCAD
  • Strong commercial & business acumen, solid understanding of Project Controls
  • Excellent analytical skills 
  • Ability to organize and prioritize competing projects
  • Strong technical writing skills with the ability to produce and communicate clear and detailed written technical specifications 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
