Our client in Montreal is looking for a Chief Technical Officer to join their growing team on a fulltime permanent basis.  The Chief Technical Officer will be responsible for directing the company’s engineering
functions including leading the continued development of the company’s proprietary growing technology and supporting in the design and build of facilities.  If this sounds like something you would be interested in, please apply below.

Job Responsibilities 
  • Responsible for continued iteration of the electrical and mechanical design of the company’s
  • proprietary growing system
  • Translation of business strategy and plant science needs into technical designs—including
  • managing design and implementation in-line with cost and technical targets
  • Integration of the company’s proprietary system into broader facility designs (lay-out, climate control
  • etc.) through collaboration with external consultants
  • Responsible for leading innovation initiatives—particularly around automation
  • Expected to develop maintenance standard operating procedures
  • Expected to oversee a growing team of engineers and help identify and source talent needs

Candidate Qualifications
  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical preferred)
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Professional Engineer designation preferred
  • Minimum three-years of full-time experience
  • Experience managing or leading a team
  • Core electrical engineering and controls systems skillset including working knowledge of UL standards, understanding of switches and sensors, design of electrical cabinets, etc.
  • Core mechanical engineering skillset including proficiency in mechanical engineering design, knowledge of engineering standards, fixture design etc.
  • Highly proficient in CAD modelling, specifically with Solidworks (including both Solidworks and Solidworks Electrical)
  • General knowledge of piping and plumbing including filtering, pump selection and controlling pressure and flow rates 
  • Basic machining experience—Mill, bandsaw
  • Ability to support directly in assembly, construction preferred including the installation of mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Knowledge of environmental control systems (e.g., HVAC)
  • Foundational understanding of business principles including an understanding of trade-offs
  • between cost, risk management and quality
  • Strong communication skills with an ability to escalate pressing technical challenges to business leadership as needed
  • Experience leading teams and creating a high energy, positive environment
  • Project planning or workflow management 
  • Ability to develop engineering packages and drafts
  • Experience collaborating with consultants and integrating designs
