Job Responsibilities 
  • Develop and manage Health and Safety programs for the company
  • Provide leadership and support to Operations to help the organization achieve Health and safety goals and objectives
  • Assist the business to meet regulatory requirements relating to specific obligations e.g. training
  • Assists in the development, implementation and maintenance of safety and health programs, systems and procedures
  • Monitor and prevent hazards and diseases that could be found in the work area
  • Investigate accidents, injuries, and complaints concerning hazards in the workplace

Candidate Qualifications 
  • A minimum of one to three years of relevant experience in Safety
  • National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) or Health & Safety Administrator (HSA) designation, through the Alberta Construction Safety Association (ACSA)
  • Engagement in field operations and observations
  • Excellent knowledge of OH&S legislation and best practice OH&S procedures
  • Ability to understand and contribute to the development of policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, Workers Compensation, as well as related Federal, Provincial and Municipal regulations and legislations
  • Ability to work independently with significant initiative
  • Ability to use systems, tools and organizational skills to work independently, organize workload and set priorities appropriately
  • Allow for flexibility to meet constantly changing and challenging deadlines
  • Intermediate computer skills (MS Office, including Excel and Word) are essential
  • Construction experience
  • Knowledge of Fall Protection
  • Familiar with operation of skid steer and telehandler
