Job Responsibilities
  • Introduce, implement and support a range of processes including employee engagement/relations, talent acquisition, performance management, discipline, promotion, learning and development, workforce planning and succession planning 
  • Interpret and advise on policies and procedures to ensure legislative compliance and mitigating business risk
  • Provide employee relations support for an assigned client group, counseling managers on employee issues relating to conflict resolution, performance management, discipline, promotion, etc. 
  • Play a key role in driving and supporting the organization’s culture through effective change management initiatives
  • Responsible for the Performance Appraisal program for all employees
  • Manage recruitment strategies and procedures ensuring positions are filled in a timely manner with quality candidates
  • Recommend strategies for sourcing candidates 
  • Oversee talent management initiatives by managing employee termination, succession planning and recognizing talent gaps within the existing employees
  • Provide guidance and support to the HR team and senior management on matters relating to employee complaints
  • Support management and supervisors on matters relating to progressive discipline and performance management
  • Oversee the investigation and reporting of incidents and alleged incidents
  • Ensure timely resolution of complaints, issues and concerns regarding employment practices 
  • Review statistical reports and metrics concerning personnel-related data 
  • Provide guidance, coaching and support to management and supervisory teams
  • Assist with preparation of the department budget
  • Remain current with best practices, legislative changes and industry standards
  • Responsible for understanding the company benefits programs

Candidate Qualifications
  • Ten+ years in an HR Manager role
  • Six+ years of progressive HR generalist experience as a Business Partner 
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Commerce or Labour Relations field
  • Demonstrated knowledge of all areas within HR
  • Hospitality industry experience
  • CPHR designation would be preferred
  • Experience in a unionized environment is preferred
  • Previous experience with manufacturing or construction industry; transportation industry; or camps and catering industry is an asset
  • Current knowledge of applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws and regulations and stays informed of HR best practices within the industry
  • Excellent computer and technical writing skills
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal
  • Proven track record of providing leadership, mentorship and training to an HR team
  • Very high integrity, ethical and trustworthy
  • Able to build and maintain effective business relationships with all divisions within the company
  • Some travel with be required
