Our client in Vancouver, is seeking a Senior Labour Relations Advisor to join their team on a full-time permanent basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for the negotiation of collective agreements, as well as the administration of Collective Bargaining Agreements, grievances, and arbitration. Job Responsibilities
  • Lead the negotiations team and act as principal negotiator during negotiations 
  • Determine negotiations approach to align with the strategic direction of the company
  • Fully understand the competitive landscape and use the data to prepare for and negotiate Collection Bargainig Agreements (CBAs)
  • Understand and develop bargaining mandate on major terms for each set of negotiations prior to entering negotiations 
  • Maintain negotiating notes and file as required
  • Ensure proper administration and interpretation of CBAs
  • Follow processes on maintaining files on all labour contracts and notes taken during negotiations, grievances, and arbitration hearings
  • Ensure that grievances are promptly and properly processed 
  • Prepare for and represent the Company at Arbitration hearings
  • Work on the resolution of grievances, consulting with HR and Operations as needed
  • Review all incident reports and provide recommendations on 
  • Work with the Director of Labour Relations, HR, Operations to execute strike and lock-out plans as required
  • Maintain wage and other comparisons for all direct competitors for each collective agreement
  • Maintain detailed clause by clause comparison of collective agreements

Candidate Qualifications 
  • Undergraduate degree in Business, HR or Labour Relations
  • Minimum of five years of relevant experience
  • Experience resolving labour grievances and representing an organization during arbitration hearings
  • Excellent knowledge of applicable legislation
  • Strong computer skills
  • Experience with leading negotiations teams is considered an asset 
  • Bilingualism is an asset
  • Travel throughout Western Canada as needed
