Do you have experience leading a team of people within the Application Development & Support environment? Are you knowledgeable in the Midstream Pipeline business? Our client in Calgary is seeking an experienced Lead, IT Applications Development and Support, to join their team on a full time permanent basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading, planning, and coordinating all activities related to the design, development and implementation of software applications, systems and platforms.   If this sounds like something you would be interested in, please apply below.

Job Responsibilities  
  • Maintain custom Oil Movement Manager applications, along with all custom applications, data interfaces, and reporting built on the Microsoft platform
  • Manage the development and deployment of new custom applications, systems software, and enhancements 
  • Build a relationships with stakeholders by developing an understanding of their business needs, processes, data, and issues
  • Ensure that development projects meet business requirements 
  • Lead problem analysis and issue resolution
  • Provide leadership, mentoring and coaching to staff 
  • Technical requirements, system/application architecture and application design
  • Create and formalize software development life cycle, architectural design & development framework, and in-house coding standards 
  • Create documentation for the software development life cycle processes, technical architecture, and technical support for all applications 
  • Participate in development of the business systems strategy, roadmaps, architecture, DR plans and applicable policies & procedures to ensure they align with business objectives
  • Recommend products, services, platforms or innovation roadmaps that contribute the business 

Candidate Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education in Computer Science or a related IT discipline
  • Minimum 15 years of IT experience as a business analyst
  • Certification in .net (C#), SQL, Java and TomCat
  • Experience as a leader of an Application Development & Support team
  • Midstream Pipeline business experience with oil movement and ticketing systems knowledge
  • Experience in developing MVC applications 
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure virtual environments, Microsoft’s Entity Framework, Microsoft Reporting Services, Microsoft Integration Services 
  • Strong technical analysis skills, verbal/written communications skills, interpersonal skills, facilitation skills, and client relationship skills
  • Able to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language
  • Team player that thrives in a high performing, dynamic and evolving IT environment 
  • Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment 
  • Travel to field offices may be required
