Our client, a large Oil & Gas company in Chauvin, is currently looking for an Asset Geologist to join their team on a full time, permanent basis. The successful candidate will support the ongoing operation and development of conventional heavy oil properties. Working in a multidisciplinary team alongside  professional engineers and geoscientists, this position will provide you the opportunity to use strong subsurface numerical and analytical skills in combination with overall field surveillance and development planning. Job Description
  • Manage and report on progress and results relative to the asset execution plan
  • Support the Excellence Center team in permitting injector conversions or new well locations
  • Provide geological input to optimize appraisal and development well planning activities including leading multidisciplinary project planning meetings (Webmap Desktop Reviews)
  • Support the approval and review of pad, pipeline, facility and freshwater reservoir survey plans
  • Conduct geologic analysis of development wells during the drilling phase and interpret well results and geosteering in collaboration with wellsite geologists and multidisciplinary team
  • Update/refine geological model as additional data is gathered and geological understanding evolves
  • Continuously monitor reservoir production and behavior, decline and evolution of key parameters (ex: Gas-Oil Ratio (GOR) and Water-Oil Ratio (WOR)) to optimize exploitation plan and implement early corrective actions
  • Strategy definition, planning and execution of data gathering and surveillance plan to optimize field production and increase recoveries (ex: well communication, well productivity, zonal cuts, depletion analysis)
  • Analyze, evaluate and guarantee historic database coherence for well operations and well/field data
  • Maintain inputs to field models to enable production evaluation and optimization (; identify deviations, optimizations and actions to follow 
  • Synthesize geological information from the regional database and apply improving regional understanding to the geological model
  • Support JV, Land, and Business Development in evaluating land swaps, A&D, Non-Op notices, abandonments, etc

Candidate Qualifications 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geology
  • P. Geo designation
  • 5-10 years’ experience in upstream Oil and Gas
  • Strong geology experience in W4M and W3M clastic and carbonate reservoirs
  • Development permitting and drilling experience
  • Proficiency in Petrel, Accumap, Wellview
  • Familiarity with discounted cash flow analysis and economic metrics (DPI, NPV, ROR etc.)
  • Strong project management skills with commitment to data integrity
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements, royalties, and reserves reporting requirements in Alberta
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines, stay highly organized with a keen attention to detail
  • Analytical mindset with a focus on troubleshooting, creative problem-solving and continuous improvement
  • Solid business sense, able to produce quality results under pressure and within deadlines
