Do you have strong experience in an open pit mining environment? Our client in looking for an experienced Mine General Foreman, Open Pit to join their team on full time, permanent basis. The primary role of this position is to direct and schedule all mining personnel and equipment activities for the mine.   If this sounds like something you would be interested it, please apply below.

Job Responsibilities
  • Work with the mine manager and engineering to devise effective mine plans 
  • Oversee mine shifters role to ensure all operations are meeting their shift and daily safety and production goals
  • Monitor and lead all aspects of operational activities, from drilling to reclamation, to meet the company’s goals
  • Identify and prioritize all mine training activities 
  • Continuously work with HR and trainers to expand the cross-training of operators
  • Manage and monitor daily operator assignments 
  • Work with HR to manage the daily attendance
  • Work on incident investigations and loss prevention reports
  • Monitor coal quality pit practices to insure they adhere to company policy 
  • Lead and manage the daily, weekly and monthly coal quality audit records
  • Monitor and manage daily coal production to maximize “in-pit” recoveries
  • Work with Efficiency Engineers to best implement and provide information from the data
  • Ensure that daily production performance is displayed for employees to see
  • Work with Drill and Blast Coordinator to use the data from the Terrain system to optimize shot patterns
  • Monitor and manage individual drill operator performance 
  • Work with Mine Manager to improve mine health, safety and productivity
  • Ensure all mine activity meets or exceeds all statutory requirements for health, safety and environmental
  • Work with maintenance department for planning and scheduling of equipment
  • Ensure that equipment is operated in a safe and efficient manner 
  • Continuously monitor and correct any delay issues 

Candidate Qualifications
  • Valid BC Shift Boss Certificate
  • Mine Engineering degree preferred
  • Five+ years’ experience in an open-pit mining environment
  • Aptitude for logistics, planning and scheduling
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including relationship building and collaboration within a diverse environment
  • Strong time management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize 
  • Demonstrated ability to respond quickly and effectively under pressure
