Description

Our client in Prince George is looking to add professional Truck Drivers to join their team on a full-time permanent basis.  The primary responsibility will be to operate a tractor and trailer configuration and transport and deliver bulk materials. Job Responsibilities 
  • Oversee cargo handling and secure loads
  • Perform pre and post and en route trip inspections on equipment 
  • Comply with applicable legislation including safe operation, load securement, driver's hours of service, occupational health and safety, transportation of dangerous goods, and weights and dimensions
  • Efficiently maneuver truck and trailer(s) into loading or unloading positions
  • Check mobile equipment to ensure that mechanical and safety equipment is in good working order
  • Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles 
  • Report all safety hazards or conditions encountered at load, unload, yard and shop sites
  • Record, maintain and check all relevant paperwork and documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate
  • Operate equipment such as truck cab computers, CB radios, and telephones to exchange necessary information with bases, supervisors, or other drivers
  • Complete electronic and/or manual logs of working hours and of vehicle service and repair status, following applicable provincial and federal regulations
  • Assist in loading and unloading of trucks
  • Perform periodic inspections before, during, and after delivery to ensure that load is properly fastened down and is secure
  • Ensure that any debris caused by the loading/unloading of truck is cleaned up

Candidate Qualifications 
  • Minimum five years Super B and mountain driving experience required
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Proven ability to drive in snow and to chain tires when necessary
  • Basic understanding of vehicle and trailer maintenance requirements
  • Class 1 driver’s license
  • Clean driver abstract or record
  • Air brake endorsement 
  • Ability to move 100 pounds, lift 50 lbs overhead and lift to shoulder height 75lbs
  • Ability to sit long durations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
  • Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills 
  • Computer literate
  • Strong organizational abilities including task prioritization and adherence to timelines
  • Professional demeanor under stressful situations
  • Self-directed and able to work with little supervision
